How much storage space is available on my Kindle Fire?

kindle_fire_storage_snipOn a media device like the Kindle Fire, storage matters. With movies running roughly 500MB and audiobooks 200MB, that storage can disappear rapidly. Ebooks are actually smaller in file size than other media, so if all you want to do is read, you will be fine with a device with the minimum storage.

You can check how much storage is still available on your Fire by dragging the menu down from the top with your finger and selecting “More…” from the choices. In the list that follows, choose “Device,” then “Storage.” Your Fire will calculate how much total memory you have available, and then show you in a list how the memory in use has been allocated among different functions on the device–books, audiobooks, music, videos, photos, and apps, among others. This list shows you where you need to go to remove items and free up more space.
