Andrys Does It Again!

If you have a Kindle, care about Kindles, or ever thought about Kindles, you need to get to know Andrys Basten. Now, I know that this is the worst kept secret around, seeing as how Andrys is Number 2 on the recent list of e-reader influencers at Traackr One! But on the very off chance that you don’t keep your eyes on Andrys’s comprehensive blog, A Kindle World, you are missing out on the most comprehensive coverage of all things Kindle around.

What I especially like about A Kindle World is that Andrys doesn’t just report a story. She digs into it, cites what others have to say, quotes the quotables, and, best of all, updates the story on the blog until is just isn’t newsworthy any more. As an example, take a look at her recent coverage of the State Department’s Kindle purchase and the requirement that the devices need a font light. Andrys concludes that a Kindle with font lighting can’t be too far behind. Her coverage of these issues is, in a word, exhaustive (and, to be fair, at times exhausting!). But I love it and depend on Andrys for the last word on developments in the Kindle-verse.

Plus, she keeps every good deal on the front burner at all times. What inspired me to post about Andrys today was that she picked up the news that the Office Suite Pro 6 app for the Kindle Fire is only $0.99 until tomorrow, the 17th. The app is normally $14.99, and if you want to work with Office documents on the Fire, this is the app to have. I downloaded it immediately!

So, thank you Andrys! Seems I owe you about fourteen bucks! (Will pay off next time I bump into you at a bar…) I am sure that educators are glad you help us find these deals that allow us to stretch our miserably thin budgets! (Budget, you say? What budget?)

If you live in a Kindle world, you absolutely need A Kindle World!
