Kojo and the Kindle

March 12, 2009
By

kojo_kindle_smallGreat show on WAMU with Kojo Nnamdi this Tuesday concerning “The Future of the Book.”  Kojo talks with guests and listeners about how ebooks are growing in popularity and how far this trend may go.  Of particular interest to EduKindle is the part of the show that featured Dean Hubbard from Northwest Missouri State University and its growing ebook program.

Hubbard notes that the strategy at NMSU involves ereaders such as the Sony reader as well as laptops to enable students to access course materials.  He placed his comments in the context of “cost cutting” measures, noting that over 60% of the cost of a textbook goes to paper, printing, shipping, storage, and the like.
